Pharmacy Technician (Raleigh, NC)

Pharmacy Technicians at RxAdvance work cross-functionally to provide support and research to both the Customer Service and Clinical departments. A Pharmacy Technician is responsible for answering member, pharmacy, and provider inquiries via phone and written communication. He or she will use problem-solving skills and collaboration to resolve the members’, pharmacy personnel’s, and providers’ concerns.

Job Responsibilities (but not limited to): [PHARM Core 25 (d)]
  • Triage phone calls and written inquiries from members, pharmacy personnel, and providers
  • Provide support for Clinical Programs to create and maintain prior authorization guidelines for clinical product offerings
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all inquiries for continuous improvement
  • Effectively communicate issues and resolutions to members, pharmacy personnel, providers, and appropriate internal staff
  • Research insurance benefit details for commercial, exchange, Medicare, and Medicaid payers
  • Follow all internal Policies & Procedures to ensure consistency, accuracy, and operational effectiveness
  • Support the Fraud, Waste, and Abuse program by reviewing medication utilization records, communicating any suspected fraud discovered, and recommending course of action for providers
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory changes in the pharmacy industry
  • Use judgement and problem-solving skills to resolve members’, pharmacy personnel’s, and providers’ concerns
  • Gather all required information for the PA review
  • Intakes Prior Authorization requests from the phone and fax queue.
  • Interacts with the Clinical Prior authorization team.
  • Assists in training new hires
  • Attends required training as needed
  • Have a thorough understanding of, and perform in compliance with, the current PBM v2.2 URAC standards applicable to the position
Qualifications: [PHARM Core 25 (a) (b) (c)]
  1.  Education and/or Training:
    • High school diploma or the equivalent
    • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred
  2. Professional Experience:
    • 1 – 5 + years of pharmacy technician experience in a retail pharmacy, PBM, hospital, clinical pharmacy, or long-term care environment
  3. Licenses/Certifications:
    • Registered Pharmacy Technician in any U.S. state required. Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Massachusetts preferred.
    • National Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license preferred.
  4. Specialized Skills:
    • Ability to visualize processes and identify core functions
    • Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and collaborate in a team
    • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to resolve complex matters
    • Able to work in a high-volume call center environment
  5. Technical Skills:
    • Strong PC skills; MS Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.
  6. Additional Considerations:
    • Applicants must be able to pass a background investigation as all offers are pending a successful completion of background check per the company policy
